Dr. Bohnenkamp joined the Department of Prosthodontics at the UI College of Dentistry in September 2013. Prior to coming to Iowa, Dr. Bohnenkamp was an associate professor in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry and served as the director of the international Dentist Education Program from 2006-2013 at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio.
Dr. Bohnenkamp's primary teaching responsibilities include predoctoral clinical supervision and evaluation of junior dental students in all phases of fixed and removable prosthodontics and patient management. In addition, he serves as an instructor in the Complete Denture and Occlusion lecture and laboratory courses for freshmen dental students.
Dr. Bohnenkamp's primary activities in the College of Dentistry faculty practice include the diagnosis and interdisciplinary treatment of patients requiring fixed, removable, and/or implant-supported prostheses.
Dr. Bohnenkamp is the author of numerous manuscripts published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. He recently authored Chapter 8: Patient Clinical Scenarios in the textbook entitled Removable Dentures -- Clinical Concepts and will soon published an article in an upcoming issue of Dental Clinics of North America.
As a board-certified prosthodontist and dental educator, Dr. Bohnenkamp has a special interest in writing about dental laboratory technology and the clinical treatment of patients.
Dr. Bohnenkamp is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and these sections: Dental School Admissions Officers; Student Affairs and Financial Aid; Business and Financial Administration and Clinic Administration. He is also a member of the ADEA Special Interest Group on Foreign-Educated Dental Professionals.
He is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists, a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, and an Ambassadors Club member of the American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation.
