Drs. Paula Weistroffer and Satheesh Elangovan were awarded scholarships by the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation to attend the American Dental Education Association/Academy for Academic Leadership Institute for Teaching and Learning for the Health Profession. They attended two 3.5 day training sessions fall 2011 at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill dedicated to gaining teaching competencies and other academic skills.

AAP Faculty Teaching Award 2011: Dr. Al Kvidera was recognized as the University of Iowa’s American Academy of Periodontology Faculty Teaching Award recipient. Dr. Kvidera has served as an adjunct faculty one day a week in Periodontics since 1978. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, past President of the Iowa Society of Periodontology, Fellow in the International College of Dentists and has been active in community service in his community.
