ADA Student Research Conference
The annual American Dental Association Dental Students' Conference on Research is held in the Spring at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and the Paffenbarger Research Center (PRC). The University of Iowa College of Dentistry sends one student every year to this educational meeting. The goal of this conference is to introduce outstanding dental students to scientists from the ADA, industry, NIDCR, and the ADAF Paffenbarger Research Center to raise their awareness of the wide-ranging careers available in oral health research. Further information will be posted and sent to all student researchers announcing the opportunity in January. Take advantage of your opportunities!

Hinman Student Research Symposium
The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry is the host for the Symposium, which is co-sponsored by the Thomas P. Hinman Dental society and supported by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, the Procter & Gamble Company, and Viral Antigens, Inc. The program consists of scientific sessions with oral and poster presentations by dental students, a reception, the welcoming banquet with a nationally-known speaker, exhibits, tours, and awards. The purpose of the Symposium is to honor student efforts in Dental Research. Students will meet and exchange information with other students from all parts of the nation and receive recognition for their efforts in research. A travel award is available to one student from each of the participating dental schools to defray the cost of travel to Memphis. One additional student from each school is invited to attend with travel support from their institution. Housing, food, and entertainment for up to two students from each dental school will be provided by the Symposium's co-sponsors. Abstracts for this meeting are due at the end of August. Students and mentors keep this in mind! Contact the Student Research Office for more information.
